Business Description
Advisory Research, Inc. (ARI) is a Delaware corporation founded in 1974 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ostara Inc., with Matthew K. Swaim serving as both ARI's CEO and Ostara Inc.'s CEO. ARI provides discretionary investment management services to institutional and high net worth clients through various methods, including separately managed accounts, unregistered pooled investment vehicles, and model-based accounts. They also offer sub-advisory services to registered mutual funds, wrap fee programs, and model programs. In addition to discretionary management, ARI provides nondiscretionary management of advisory accounts pursuant to model UMA agreements. As of March 1, 2024, ARI had regulatory assets under discretionary management (AUM) and assets under advisement (AUA) totaling $752.8 million, comprising $641.6 million of AUM and $111.2 million of AUA.
Investment Strategy
ARI focuses on actively managed strategies with a long-term capital appreciation goal. They utilize various methods of analysis to formulate advice and manage client assets. The investment team considers the specific needs of each account and establishes an objective for the amount of stock to be allocated. They aim to achieve a minimum position objective for each account, but due to limited liquidity of some stocks, shares may be allocated randomly or pro-rata among accounts.
