First Trust Dow Jones Select MicroCap Index Fund is an exchange-traded index fund or Index ETF that is a non-diversified, exchange-traded series of the First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund, an open-end management investment company. The investment objective of the Fund is to seek investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield (before the Fund's fees and expenses) of an equity index called The Dow Jones Select MicroCap Index. INDEX DESCRIPTION: The Dow Jones Select MicroCap Index measures the performance of selected U.S. micro-capitalization companies chosen from all common stocks traded on the NYSE, the AMEX and NASDAQ that are comparatively liquid and have strong fundamentals relative to the micro-capitalization segment as a whole. The Index is comprised of selected U.S. micro-capitalization companies chosen from all common stocks traded on the New York Stock Exchange, the AMEX and NASDAQ with limited partnerships excluded. All stocks traded on the NYSE are ranked by full market capitalization, and then are divided into deciles containing equal numbers of securities. Deciles nine and ten are defined as microcaps. All stocks traded on the NYSE, the AMEX and NASDAQ whose market capitalizations are within or below the microcap range defined by the NYSE stocks are included in the selection universe. FUND STRATEGY: The Fund will normally invest at least 80% of its total assets in common stocks of U.S. micro-capitalization companies which are publicly traded in the United States. The Fund will normally invest at least 90% of its total assets in common stocks that comprise the Index. First Trust will seek to match the performance of the Index. The 80% investment policy noted above is non-fundamental and requires 60 days' prior written notice to shareholders before it can be changed. FUND MANAGEMENT: First Trust Advisors L.P. is the investment adviser for the Fund. The firm has no submitted 13F filings and does not appear to be an investment advisor.
