Business Description
Minerva Advisors, LLC ("the Advisor") provides investment advisory services to clients through separately managed accounts ("the separate accounts") and to the Minerva Group, L.P. ("Fund"). The Advisor was formed on November 7, 2002, to provide investment advisory services. The Fund was formed to pursue certain investment strategies including, but not limited to, investment in equity securities of publicly traded U.S. micro-cap value companies and small-cap value companies. The Advisor and the Fund began operations on February 1, 2003. The Advisor's primary investment strategy is making investments in equity securities of publicly traded U.S. micro-cap value companies and small-cap value companies. The Advisor’s separate account clients consist of high-net-worth individuals and family partnerships. The Advisor and its affiliates also provide discretionary investment advisory services to the Fund and SPV, which are pooled investment vehicles.
Investment Strategy
The Advisor's primary investment strategy involves investing in equity securities of publicly traded U.S. micro-cap value companies and small-cap value companies. The fund is authorized to purchase debt securities, debt obligations, and derivative securities of such companies. While the Advisor seeks to manage a diversified portfolio, the Fund has no specific diversification policy, potentially leading to concentrated investments in specific industries, companies, or geographic regions. The Advisor also employs a long strategy, purchasing securities, generally equities or fixed income instruments, believed to be undervalued relative to a company’s underlying assets and/or ability to generate earnings and free cash flow. This involves intensive review of financial statements and conversations with corporate management. While the focus is on small and microcap companies, the Advisor can invest in larger domestic and foreign companies if market conditions are attractive. The Advisor has the authority to use other strategies as market conditions dictate.
