Business Description
Solus Alternative Asset Management LP ("Solus") is a limited partnership founded on June 29, 2007, after spinning off from Stanfield Capital Partners. The firm is led by Christopher Pucillo, a principal owner, and also includes Scott Martin as a principal owner. Solus acquired and continued managing Stanfield's former hedge fund products, maintaining the same investment team.
Solus serves as an investment advisor and sub-advisor with discretionary trading authority to private pooled investment vehicles (Funds) and separately managed accounts ("Managed Accounts"). Solus provides advisory services to multiple investor Funds, including the Sola Funds, which employ a credit, event-driven distressed strategy. Solus may offer any advisory services, engage in any investment strategy, and make any investment that it considers appropriate, subject to each Client’s investment objectives and guidelines. As of December 31, 2024, Solus managed approximately $3.3 billion on a discretionary basis.
Investment Strategy
Solus employs various investment strategies to implement investment advice, including long-term purchases, short-term purchases, and trading. They also utilize short sales, margin transactions, option writing (covered, uncovered, or spreading), bank loans, and derivative transactions. Solus aims to capitalize on investment opportunities through these strategies, as described in Section B of Item 8 and in the applicable offering and governing documents of its Clients.
Solus offers specific advisory services and pursues investment strategies that may include any investment Solus considers appropriate, subject to each Client’s investment objectives and guidelines. The investment strategies Solus pursues are speculative and entail substantial risks. Solus utilizes fundamental and/or technical analysis techniques in formulating advice and managing assets for Clients. Solus also provides advice with respect to event-driven, distressed and special situation investments, long only credit strategy and Long-Term Opportunities strategy.
