Alberto-Culver Company's principal activities are carried out in two segments namely Consumer products and Specialty distribution. The consumer products are operated through Alberto-Culver USA and Alberto-Culver International business, which develops, manufactures, distributes and markets branded consumer products worldwide. The consumer products segment includes health and beauty care products and food and household products. The specialty distribution segment consists of Sally Beauty Company, a distributor of professional beauty supplies through beauty systems group and beauty supply stores. Sally Beauty sells professional supplies through full-service distributors and its 2,712 stores, including 130 franchise stores, located in the United States, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Japan and Germany. The Group's products are also sold in Australia, Asia and Africa. Specialty distribution accounted for 62% of fiscal 2002 revenues and Consumer products, 38%.
