American Railcar Industries, Inc. designs and manufactures of hopper and tank railcars. It also leases, repairs and refurbishes railcars, provides fleet management services, and designs and manufactures certain railcar and industrial components. The company operates its business through three segments: Manufacturing, Railcar Leasing and Railcar Services. The Manufacturing segment consists of railcar manufacturing and railcar and industrial component manufacturing. The Railcar Leasing segment consists of railcars manufactured and leased to third parties under operating leases. The Railcar Services segment consists of railcar repair services, engineering and field services, and fleet management services. Its customers include leasing companies, industrial companies and those that use railcars for freight transport, or shippers, and class I railroads. American Railcar Industries was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in St. Charles, MO.
