Halfords Group plc is a holding company. The Company, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the retailing of automotive, leisure and cycling products in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. As of April 1, 2011, it had 466 retail stores, of which 402 were Superstores, 29 were mid-sized Compact stores and 35 were the smaller Metro stores, and car servicing and repair performed from 240 autocentres. The Company has two segments: Retail and Car Servicing. Retail segment comprises the retailing of automotive, leisure and cycling products through retail stores. Car Servicing segment comprise car servicing and repair performed from autocentres. Its Leisure category comprises cycles and travel solutions. Its car maintenance includes bulbs, blades, batteries, oils, spark plugs, paint sprays, rust repair and Haynes manuals. Its car enhancement comprises Audio systems, speakers and portable media devices. On February 17, 2010, it acquired Nationwide Autocentres Holdings Limited.
